My Scouting Story
Like so many,
my passion for the Boy Scout program began as a youth. I first joined as a Cub Scout in the second grade in Knoxville, TN. After receiving my Arrow of Light, my family relocated to Montgomery, AL. Scouting provided me with an immediate entry and connection into a new city during a formative time in my life.
It was during this time as a member of Boy Scout Troop 307 that the Scouting program played an integral role in my growth as a young man. Because of a quality unit program, dedicated and well-trained volunteers, and the support of my family, I achieved the rank of Eagle in October 1993.
My first opportunity to impact quality program came in 1992 as a BSA Lifeguard for Camp Tukabatachee in Prattville, AL. I served as a Lifeguard for the next four summers and went on to become the Camp Program Director during the summers while I attended college at Auburn University. During my college years, I served as a Unit Commissioner for the Flint River Council. Outside of unit visits, I also assisted with School Nights and Family FOS presentations.
It was during my senior year at Auburn that I decided to pursue a career with a purpose. My goal then, as it is today, is to ensure youth have the same access to quality Scouting programs that so greatly impacted my life.
